Construction of assets learning environments for reading comprehension. Case: fourth grade in Zacatecas, Mexico

This research with intervention modality, analyzes the case of reading comprehension in fourth grade of primary school in a school in the city of Zacatecas, Mexico. The diagnosis, application of the intervention, review and interpretation of the results was carried out from August 2018 to May 2020. It was identified that the level of reading comprehension of the students was multifactorial, highlighting the teaching practice lacking strategic and motivational activities, weak reading skills in the students, absence of school library and lack of accompaniment of the family. The intervention project "Understanding a text to know the world" was composed of twenty didactic sequences with which two substantive goals were achieved: to improve the reading comprehension levels of 34 students who made up the group object of intervention and the innovation of teaching practice. The methodology was mixed, the planning of the didactic sequences was based on the expected learning of the curriculum of this school grade and the activities were a proposal of their own. The indicators of achievement were the change of attitude towards written information, collective participation, rebound in the expression of their opinions and proposals in a reflective way; and efficient management of cognitive and metacognitive strategies; the most worrying obstacle is a teaching staff and management staff who do not support improvement actions.
