Erratum and retraction policy
The Electronic Journal of Emerging Technologies in Education (RETEE) is firmly committed to scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and the accuracy of academic literature. In accordance with the best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the journal has established the following guidelines for handling errata and retractions:
Erratum
- An errata is defined as any minor error detected in a published article that does not affect the validity of its results or conclusions (e.g., typographical errors, authorship, affiliation, numbering of tables or figures).
- Authors should notify the journal immediately when they identify an error in their publication.
- After editorial verification, RETEE will publish an errata note linked to the original article, clearly describing the error and its correction.
- The errata note does not change the original publication date or affect the DOI of the article.
Retractions
- A retraction is issued when a published article contains serious errors, fraud, plagiarism, data manipulation, undeclared conflicts of interest, redundant publication, or any other fault that compromises the validity or integrity of the research.
- RETEE editors are responsible for initiating the retraction process when such irregularities are identified, whether through external complaints, subsequent reviews, or self-recognition by the authors.
- The procedure includes:
- Internal investigation of the facts, following COPE's ethical guidelines.
- Notification to the authors involved, who may respond to the observations.
- A substantiated editorial decision, which may result in the total or partial retraction of the article.
- The retraction notice will be published on the journal's official website, linked to the original article, and will include a clear explanation of the reason.
- The original article will remain available with the label ‘Retracted’ to ensure transparency in the academic record.
Editorial Responsibility
- The editors of RETEE assume responsibility for ensuring that both errata and retractions are handled in a timely, ethical, and transparent manner.
- It is ensured that the processes will be carried out without bias and in compliance with international policies on ethics in scientific publishing.
With this policy, RETEE seeks to strengthen the trust of readers and the scientific community, ensuring the credibility, quality, and academic rigour of the published content.
