Electronic Journal of Emerging Technologies in Education (RETEE)
Version 1.0 – June 2025
1. Objective
To establish an open access framework that guarantees the immediate, free and permanent dissemination of content published in RETEE, in accordance with the principles of the Budapest Declaration and under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, without imposing publication or processing costs on authors.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all original articles, reviews, technical notes and other academic materials accepted for publication in RETEE, regardless of their geographical origin, discipline or type of research.
3. Open Access Commitment
Immediate and barrier-free access
The Electronic Journal of Emerging Technologies in Education (RETEE) adheres to the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI, 2018), committing itself to the promotion of free, immediate and unrestricted access to scientific and academic production.
All content published in RETEE is open access, which means that anyone can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of articles without economic, legal or technical barriers. This access is provided free of charge to authors and readers, with the aim of consolidating science as a global public good.
Both the ‘golden’ route (direct publication in an OA journal) and the ‘green’ route (self-archiving in institutional repositories) are promoted, as defined in the Budapest Declaration.
Preservation and permanent availability
The full texts are deposited in recognised digital preservation repositories to ensure their long-term preservation.
An archive is maintained on our platform and in mirror repositories to prevent technological obsolescence.
4. Licence
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, which allows third parties to:
- Share: copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, even for commercial purposes.
- Adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the material, even for commercial purposes, provided that:
- the original author is given appropriate credit;
- a link to the licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0) is provided;
- any changes made to the material are indicated;
- no additional restrictions (legal or technological) are imposed that limit the permissions granted by this licence.
5. Cost Policy
- No Article Processing Charges (APC): RETEE will not charge authors for the submission, evaluation, processing or publication of their manuscripts.
- The journal's operating costs are covered by the Autonomous University of Zacatecas and other institutional funding sources, without passing on any financial burden to researchers.
6. Compliance with Ethical and Quality Standards
- RETEE adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure the integrity of the editorial and peer review processes.
- Authorship, conflict of interest and data disclosure policies are respected, promoting reproducibility and ethics in research.
7. Self-archiving procedure
- Authors may deposit the final (post-print) version of their article in institutional or thematic repositories immediately after publication, without any embargo period or additional restrictions.
- The final PDF version, with DOI and official metadata, will be available (LOCKSS, CLOCKSS) for direct download from the RETEE website.
8. Dissemination and Reach
- The integration of metadata (including DOI, ORCID of authors and abstracts) with indexing services is facilitated.
- The use of persistent identifiers (DOI, ORCID) is encouraged to improve the visibility and traceability of academic output.
