Forensic anthropology contributes comprehensively to the resolution of criminal proceedings, especially those involving the identification and presentation of evidence. At the global level it is from the participation of archaeologists, social anthropologists and physical anthropologists that public policies have been promoted to reduce the rates of missing persons. Therefore, it is essential to emphasize the historical and practical processes that have allowed archeology to consolidate in Mexico as an analytical perspective with an important social role, and that in turn project the limits and scope of the discipline in the solution of problems facing today's society. In this text we will also highlight some relevant aspects of archaeological practice in the forensic field, and with the aim of providing clear examples of the effectiveness of the application of the work in the reconstruction of scenes or contexts, an example of a case is provided, since only with evidence clear positions are maintained.
