Jesús Reyes Heroles: profile of a liberal intellectual

Abstract

This paper presents some of the main ideas of the social theorist and politician Jesús Reyes Heroles, a universal liberal Mexican who has laid the foundations to rethink the liberal model from a framework of peace, social justice and respect for otherness. Under the current socio-political climate, a comprehensive proposal for peace with social justice is needed for a possible national reconciliation, in this sense, recovering the legacy of Jesús Reyes Heroles is a fundamental task to rethink another Mexico under the current crisis of violence and polarization. Here are some introductory ideas for an open discussion.
