The sacred art of the altarpiece. Door of the Blessed Souls in the Purgatory of the Parish of the Tabernacle from Zacatecas

A historical frame that deepens in the heritage and artistic wealth of eighteen century, it is a journey through the interior of the Parish of the Tabernacle located in the capital city of Zacatecas. To make known that, in addition to being an important religious space, it is a cultural and exquisite architectural space. The style of the altarpiece is analyzed as visual support; also, the visual narrations of the viceregal period in Zacatecas; In addition, this article provides elements for an unpublished scientific explanation of some gilded altarpieces sheltered in what was originally a Jesuit temple of the eighteenth century. A formal iconographic and iconological analysis is carried out, revaluing part of the history of local art within universal art.
