Abstract

In this essay we analyze nine key pieces of the Zacatecas cathedral, they are of great historical and artistic worth, which is proved in their lavish cutting in Zacatecas pink quarry; in the iconographic and iconological analysis we do a comparison between the tree of life and the tree of knowledge, the central part of the iconological analysis is maked up by The Christ Passion, and makes reference to the Sentence, the Column, the Dices, the Cane, the Ladder, the Thorn Crown, the Tree Of Life and the Lance, all the mentioned were ubicated inside keys of the zacatecan cathedral dedicated to the Virgin of the Assumption that are 87 voissours, none repeated, except 3 windows with the following dimensions: 153 cm of wide and 83 cm of tall the ones of cruise; 143 cm wide and 66 cm high the ones in the arcs communicating to the central nave; 51 cm wide and 66 cm high the ones in the arcs inside the wall.
