Cáncer infantil en México: una revisión sistemática

Introduction: in Mexico, childhood cancer is the first cause of death by disease in children between 5 and 14 years of age and the sixth in children under 5 years of age, it is one of the main causes of years of life potentially lost in children. The objective of this study was to systematize the evidence of the articles published from 2018 to 2023 on the prevalence of childhood cancer. Method: An integrative review was carried out and scientific articles were selected from search engines: Eselvier, Science, Springer Nature, Oxford Academy, Springer Open, Wiley, PubMed - NCBI, Latindex. CLASE, Periodic, SciELO Mexico, REDALYC and BIIACS, articles in English, Portuguese and Spanish from 2018 to 2023 were reviewed, using the keywords: prevalence, cancer, childhood and the Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT. Results: 5 articles were found where it is reported that early diagnosis improves the prognosis of the pathology in infants, educational interventions increase knowledge and reduce anxiety in parents and children, after overcoming the disease both parents and children show the presence of growth post-traumatic showing higher rates in mothers, therapeutic massages help to reduce pain, nausea, stress, anxiety and increase leukocytes and neutrophils. Discussion and conclusions Few articles were found on interventions in the management of childhood cancer, the importance of educational programs aimed at parents where their coping and adaptation skills are manifested was identified, in addition therapeutic massage improves the symptoms of children with cancer.
