This article addresses the development of investigative skills in the contexts of initial training processes. Among the proposed objectives, the highlight is to offer a comparative analysis of some instruments to measure and evaluate the development of the aforementioned skills in students in virtual or face-to-face learning environments. A systematic review of the materials was carried out by involving the comparative and basic method, in this way the construction of three instruments is analyzed and they are contrasted with the approach of Barbachán Ruales et al. (2021). With respect to the systematic review, the guidelines for the procedure of Pardal-Refoyo and Pardal-Peláez (2020) are taken. In the discussion and analysis of results, a general reflection is made of the strengths and weaknesses of each instrument analyzed. The conclusions express a series of considerations about the value of the contributions generated with respect to the theoretical discussion on the topic, the relevance to the development of research skills in higher education and the relevance of the instruments analyzed for their application and improvement. It is about influencing the diagnosis, intervention and evaluation of the aforementioned skills, especially in programs aimed at the training of higher education professionals.
