The present paper is an approach, from a review modality, of one of the most controversial Christian Duverger’s researches, Vida de Hernan Cortes. La Espada; the first in a series of two, in which the author firstly discusses the adventure taken by the Adelantado from Extremadura to pursue an ideal that would mark not only his own life but a whole continent and historical and ideological repercusions of which are still present in the collective consciousness of several past and present societies, both American and European. According to Duverger, the Conquest of Mexico started with a cortesian miscegenation project which seed was already planted in Hernan Cortes’ mind since his early youth. Our review focuses on commenting the alternative point of view that Christian Duverger proposes to get a new perspective about the man and his time, his thought and the symbolic structure that accompained him all his life.
