Everything seems to indicate that Teotihuacan was organized in large neighborhoods and during the Tlamimilolpa and Xolalpan phases, it functioned as a confederation of neighborhoods, each with a coordination center or main neighborhood center (Manzanilla, 2009, 2012: 20). Each neighborhood center equidistant from each other orthogonally: In NW the main neighborhood center was Tetitla, SW La Ventilla, SE Teopancazco and the NE is an area that has not been studied and it has been proposed that in this sector (N2E2 / N2E1) could be the fourth neighborhood center having all of La Ciudadela and the Grand Conjunto as the center of the model (Ortiz, 2015).
In 2018, the Interdisciplinary Project for the location of a new neighborhood center in Teotihuacan (Mexico) was started by the Institute of Anthropological Research of the UNAM and the University of Barcelona in the N2E2 sector with funds from the Palarq and the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Spain, applying geophysical techniques (Georradar, electrical and magnetic studies, topography, aerial photo with drone and review of surface materials.) The present article is a presentation of the above mention project (Ortiz, et al., 2017).
