Abstract

The article analyzes how learned gender beliefs increase the risk of women experiencing violence in their relationships. The research was made up of three phases, in the first an interview instrument was constructed, in the second the interview was applied to the two case studies, and at the end, the data were analyzed. The type of research chosen was mixed, whit descriptive and correlational scope. From the data obtained, it was found, based on the normalization of violence, the participants are not fully aware of it and in many cases, nor of its effects, that the social environment does not necessarily determine a difference in women who experiences this type of violence and among those who do not, that vulnerability to intimate partner violence is not necessarily related to experiences lived in their family of origin and the gender beliefs  learned by women do play an important role in making of decisions about your relationship.
