Abstract

It is important to understand here the scope of the notion esse-essentiae of Francisco Suárez, which is in the denial of the priority of the being-entity in Heidegger. I underline the word "reach". I think I demonstrate, in effect, that such denial implies much more than a simple rejection of any notion of being-being, as if this notion lacked antecedents, or as if that notion was only contaminated by the fundamental incomprehension that characterizes modern philosophies engendered by the esse- ens (being-being). On the contrary, the force of Heidegger's ontology can not be understood without the esse essentiae (being of the essence) of the Granada philosopher and theologian. It is a matter of discerning whether it is true that the predominance of being of the Greek entity in modern philosophy became "during the Middle Ages in fixed doctrine", and that that reign and transmission to our time would not have been consummated without the work of Suarez.
