The reproduction and expansion of the neoliberal capitalist model confirms that, under its premises and beyond all doubt, the planetary world settled in the globalizing process and the unlimited growth of knowledge - which is not multiplied as a public good but rather as a source of competitiveness and increasingly private and corporate appropriation of knowledge, to which only a minority fraction of society has access - produces, as a result, that inequality is one of the main socio-economic and political characteristics of the knowledge era. These issues lead us to analyze in this article, as critically as possible, some issues that are linked to the functioning of societies, power relations, social stratification processes and the sources of change that generate the greatest exclusion in today's world. , as well as the role that universities play within such processes.
