Abstract

The Magic Town Program in Mexico has been a key tool in the tourism promotion of towns with historical, cultural and natural value. This article aims to analyze this program as a governance model in Mexican tourism, observing its impacts, challenges and opportunities from a perspective of sustainable development and collaboration between various social and governmental actors. Through the literature review and case analysis, the coordination and participation mechanisms between the sectors involved in the implementation of tourism policies at the local and national level are discussed.
