Abstract
The following article is a summary of my undergraduate thesis, which was focused on a concomitant study of projectile points and other artifacts recovered from various archaeological contexts of the current La Ferrería site, located in the state of Durango, near the capital. This work was based on a contextual and interpretative study, applying new methods and theoretical currents, from European archeology schools, where the main objective was to distinguish a social segmentation among the ancient inhabitants of the place, having projectile points as one of the objects of study, a topic that has been addressed from the architectural analysis and the “Mesoamerican” paradigm by previous researchers. One of the relevance of this article is the way in which the results are interpreted using new theoretical tools, leaving aside the famous phenomenon of mesoamerica, an ethnological model that has been used excessively by the archaeological tradition in Mexico, especially, for the study of the northern populations of Mexico, as well as the importance given to lithics, since ceramics have dominated the region.
