Abstract
This article consists of two fractions, which are linked to each other, as part of the object of the writing. The first on the importance of the Register of archaeological sites in the Inventory and Catalog of Sites of the Directorate of the Public Registry of Monuments and Archaeological and Historical Zones of the INAH, whose purpose is assigned to the INAH, by mandate of law, to be the legal depositary of a Public Registry of individualized information (by site), which allows certifying the legal existence of pre-Hispanic evidence in certain areas of the national territory and, therefore, they acquire, by that measure, even more, the character of assets of the Nation. This registry is the basis of any legal action for protection and claim to individuals and other authorities on federal assets considered archaeological heritage. The data discharged in the certificates contain the general reference data to locate, delimit the place where the pre-Hispanic structures and associated material culture are located, as well as elements to promote their protection and legal safeguard. This text deals with the works carried out in the Cultural Landscape Project in Milpa Alta, from which the registration of a large number of archaeological evidences related to a continuous occupation of the site and the surroundings has been achieved. The character of this site is a clear example that the investigations not only focus on archaeological work but are based on holistic methodologies to promote the participation of the communities around the site, promoting its knowledge and protection.
