Abstract
Abstract
The production of "tejamanil" within the Purépecha communities of Michoacán has been a traditional knowledge that has endured over time, resisting oblivion. These sheets of pinewood have been used in the roofs of houses and temples throughout the Purépecha Sierra since the colonial period. Although its practice has significantly diminished in modern times, it is still preserved by the remaining “tejamanileros” or “cazambahui” in these villages, particularly in Angahuan. Therefore, in order to preserve the knowledge associated with this activity, a brief account of its production process has been conducted, framed within its contribution to archaeological work, through the practice of ethnography for archaeologists.
