Abstract
Abstract
The idea of collecting dates to man's own history, showing the collection as a form of accumulation that produces prestige by the possession of such items. It is important to note that collecting is an activity that involves an interest and passion for collecting and preserving specific objects. For many people, collecting can be a source of satisfaction and a way of expressing their identity and personal tastes. By collecting objects, people can experience positive emotions such as joy, excitement, and a sense of accomplishment when they find new pieces for their collection. Collecting can also provide them with a sense of connection to the past, as often the objects collected have historical or sentimental value. The present research aims to identify negative emotions in women collectors. For this purpose, a mixed narrative study was carried out with a sample of 20 female collectors ranging from 16 to 32 years old. Four instruments were applied: Resilience Questionnaire, Personality Questionnaire, Somatization Self-Report Questionnaire, and Inventory of Trait-State Anxiety -IDARE- as well as an in-depth interview. It was found that the participants have a submissive personality tendency, elevated levels of resilience, state-trait anxiety, and a medium level of somatization, as well as a significant presence of negative emotions linked to their collecting practice.
