For several years, the topic of social security in our country has been studied from different
perspectives due to being one of the external factors posing a significant threat to various economic,
social, and political entities. This leads to the consideration that a deeper study and analysis of this
social problem is necessary to contain the current situation and reverse the widespread distrust
towards institutions, programs, and those responsible for public security. This exploratory study
reveals preliminary data on the impact of citizen insecurity on higher education institutions, which
persists in the municipality of Fresnillo, Zacatecas. The analysis takes into account the perception of
students from four different universities in the municipality, yielding very interesting responses. In
conclusion, it is important to establish strategic actions to safeguard the integrity of university students
who currently feel vulnerable in various scenarios, generating guiding principles that allow for the
implementation of action plans within their institutional lives.
