Abstract

Claudio César Calabrese´s book Community and Pedagogy. The Platonic philosophy of education [Zacatecas, Texere, 2018. 222 pp.] elaborates a systematic reflection of the work of the Greek thinker, tracing the central educational postulates of Plato . The central contribution is found in the demonstration of the pedagogical value of myths as an intrinsically necessary resource for the formation of the human being. The present review offers a historical framework with which to contrast the results presented by the author in his book to make evident the advances that his research offers, not only for the philosophy of education, but for the reinterpretation of the history of the pedagogy.
