Abstract

The Giallo Cinema, ("Yellow Cinema", as it is translated from Italian), arose in the 60s, sparked by the homonymous literature. The objective of the paper is to carry out a study of visual culture to carry out an approach to the influences of Giallo in Mexico, through the work La noche de los mil gatos (Cardona, 1972), through the analysis of color that combines elements related to the stylistic bases of the European Giallo proposal. Thus, an investigation with a mediological approach is outlined to deepen the thinking of the author's techné, for which the following steps are taken: study of visuality, through the relationship of colors, from an observation guide as an instrument, in which the role of color, recurrences and similar elements with the film genre are emphasized. As a result of the study, it is intended to arrive at a particular phenomenology of color, a consequence of the selection of frames, categorization of information and search for its interpretation to establish a relationship between both cases.
