Abstract

La Judea in the holy week in Jimenez del Teul is one of the most deeply rooted religious collective celebrations in this municipality in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico. However, there are few studies on its origins and its symbolism, although it constitutes one of the strongest elements of identity for the people of this place. This work intends to trace the origins of the celebration of La Judea, in order to establish possible links with other groups where it is practiced, as well as to elucidate the symbolic framework that is recreated with its practice, with the objective of add to the history of the community and the region.
