¿Imitación o creación?: la traducción como acto de escritura

Abstract

It’s usually considered that translation involves imitation and undesired modification, resulting in partial loss of the original text’s meaning. This paper examines the idea of translation as a second creation act (chronologically and not hierarchically), particularly in poetry translation, focusing on the role of the translator as a constructor of a new literary work with its own meaning, which only tries to emulate the effect that the source poem has on the reader.
