This work aims to provide a general overview of the implications that sexist language
entails in society. To support this approach, we have chosen to analyze concepts such as family,
power, language, and patriarchy, thus perceiving the inequality that exists between men and women.
The text will be divided into two important sub-themes: In the first section, we will focus on the
emergence and development of the family as the initial transmitter of sexist language. In the second
part, the role of patriarchy within language will be studied, and the consequences of using sexist
language and how it generates discrimination between men and women will be explored. This will be
accomplished through theoretical analysis, culminating with the conclusions of this work.
Keywords: sexist language, family, gender roles and stereotypes.
