The objectives of the study are to determine if there is discrimination against LGBT+
students at UACh based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression, to identify
the causes that lead to it; to generate statistical data regarding LGBT+ students at UACh to make
this population visible; and to analyze how they express their sexuality at UACh and in their places
of origin, examining how space and sociocultural factors influence the development and practice of
sexuality. The research method used was descriptive quantitative-qualitative and a case study
approach, and the data collection instrument applied was a survey. It was found that there is a wide
sexual diversity, along with subtle or symbolic homophobia at UACh, although to a greater extent in
their communities of origin and within the family, leading to emotional instability. The initiation of
sexual activity largely coincides with the students' time at UACh and is rarely practiced responsibly.
There are no plans or programs implemented by student authorities that address the specific needs
of the diverse sex population.
