Abstract

What is now known as Zacatecas City was inhabited by Spaniards in 1546. Two years later, in 1548, the Dioceses at Guadalajara
was created. Since the creation of the Dioceses, religious services in Zacatecas were dictated by the Dioceses upon until 1862 when the Pope authorized the Dioceses of Zacatecas,
which was established in 1864.This decision brought upon other challenges like proclaiming the city’s parish to the category of Cathedral, building a seminary and home for the
priests. All of this required the participation of architecture in order to start the construction of new buildings or to improve existing structures. This work refers to the priest house, which
were initiated in 1877. In 1926, the Mexican government obligated religious authorities to turn over all temples, which were later reclaimed. Upon until now, that XIX century building is
used as originally intended: home for priests.
