Criticism of repressive art

Abstract

Can art be repressive? In the following writing we will try to clarify whether it is possible or not. To do this, we will first go through the modern idea of freedom and repression in the subject through its essential and causal consideration. We will identify the link that exists between freedom and art along with the problem that arises from its standardization. We will develop the question of fetish and cliché to observe how the subject alienates himself and loses his freedom in order to meet a social standard. Finally we will propose a way out through free contemplation that allows you to appreciate art from your will. The intention of the work is to show that art can function as a repressive model when we are not able to appreciate it for its own sake, but rather for the idea that is imprinted on it by the cultural industry.
